y passion is cooking and creating simple, delicious foods. My fascination with food began in my grandmother’s and mother’s kitchens in McAllen, Texas. As my family taught me the art of Mexican cuisine, I realized how much I loved cooking, and I have spent many years since those early days experimenting and creating my own recipes.
After graduating from the University of Texas and spending several years in real estate, my husband and I moved to San Diego, California. Once there, I wasted little time in pursuing my dreams and I opened Point Loma Beach Café in Ocean Beach. My favorite part of running the café was getting to know my customers and hearing positive feedback about my food. The locals would thank me for bringing this food into their neighborhood and that made my café adventure all worthwhile. Point Loma Beach Café will always have a warm place in my heart, and I’m happy to say that it is still operating today under new ownership. I chose to move away from the operation of the café into a world of freely sharing my recipes and cooking techniques through adrianawright.com.
I love creating meals and sharing my flavors and creations. I mostly use every day easy-to-find spices and ingredients. Many people ask me what style of food I cook and although most of my flavors and seasonings are heavily influenced from my upbringing, I like to say “a little bit of everything.” I love all kinds of foods and the cultural influences it brings. I hope to inspire you to get in the kitchen and enjoy the art of cooking. I want to teach you that cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, but rather simple and delicious.
